Rubio Talks "An American Son" and Immigration on CBS' "This Morning"

as we reported earlier Mitt Romney says Florida senator Marco Rubio is being that it as a potential running mate in the presidential election Bromley

says reports that Rubio is out of the running or quote entirely fall soon to ruby is with us now from Washington it is a first interview since these comments he's just published a memoir it

is called an American sons and revealed that morning good morning good morning I thanks for having me it's a pleasure to have you on aspect at this moment when you heard these reports that %HESITATION

that you were not being vetted who you already being the added well I've made a decision a long time ago not to discuss the process and that's not gonna change today I respect the

process that governor Romney's going through you know what I'm pretty confident of it is going to make an excellent choice and

%HESITATION with I think those of us who are involved in politics and supportive of him should give the space to do that so that's

a decision I made awhile back and I think it's the right one to just not comment on the process okay but I mean I need but I knew you'd ask nde but

at the cost of the question is what happens when you get a questionnaire what else do they do %HESITATION I'm not going to discuss the process I have a new book out I don't know if you heard of nmha talk about the book and and then come back to the political questions so

what we learn from this memoir American son about you that might be instructive to understanding you and

your political life and all the things that made you who you are while the book as large in the story of my family and how many of the conclusions I've reached and the opportunities that I've had are the direct result of decision experiences that they made and had so

long ago and obviously I I think there are a lot of other people out there that have similar stories and one of things I hope is that by telling my story I can pay tribute to America because

I realize that I've had opportunities that my parents should have had but didn't because they didn't have the blessing that I've had to be born and raised here in this country there

are also some things that I think will be optimal for people of my I generation Amanda terms of the life work balance and I talk openly in the book about how I worry that sometimes I

don't get that right and I share mistakes that I've made you know decisions I made in a while back while I started out in politics that I wish I had done differently because I would have avoided a lot of headaches for myself and I hope that that is something people will look at as well and

finally I hope that people out there who are thinking about endeavor whether it's politics or business and are being told that they can't win %HESITATION

the title even suggests that American Sign %HESITATION the president has proposed of

the same token we have a broken legal immigration system and we have a very serious illegal immigration problem and

any solution to that problem whether it's of the kids that have been here for a long time or to the people that are here in of overstay visas that

think the way he did it by nor in the car constitution and ignoring the Congress is going to make it harder for us to come up with the kind of balanced solution that I was working on and

of the president and you know why he's not answering this question directly and has he consulted with you at all on

the issue of immigration I have not had a conversation with him since the president's decision came out before my readiness public state

they echoed these are young people can when they were five years old have lived here their whole life to the valedictorian of their school it

part of a long term solution as well I think what I've read and seen governor Romney say is that %HESITATION the way the president did it is

going to make it harder to find that kind of balance long term approach so I we're going to continue to work on this obviously I think it's gonna make it harder to do it before the election because

we've lost some of that sense of urgency I hope I'm wrong but let's see what is reasonable to say that the
